Celebrating success

Celebrating success

I was recently fortunate enough to be invited to the Farmers Weekly Awards ceremony by one of my clients (thank you very much!) and I have to say it was a fantastic night.

Almost 1200 people descended upon the Grosvenor Hotel in Park Lane, London for this black tie event and Farmers Weekly should be congratulated for putting on a very impressive show. Good food was provided. Wine for those who wanted it. National radio personality Alan Dedicoat acted as the MC for the evening and Countryfile presenter Matt Baker as the host.

We also enjoyed some very amusing entertainment from Irish hip-hop act (yes, you read that right!) Abandoman, who claimed to be Ireland's number 7 hip-hop act. They have to be seen to be believed!

But the thing I enjoyed the most was that the evening was a genuine celebration of all that is great about British agriculture. People spoke passionately about the good things our industry achieves, great farmers were publicly acknowledged for the contribution they make to feeding our nation and protecting our natural environment. And, despite the many difficulties the industry faces, for one night it felt like everyone in the supply chain was facing them together, with a positive and forward-thinking attitude - something that is not so common outside award ceremonies, perhaps?

Overall, the evening made me very proud to be part of the British agricultural industry. Well done Farmers Weekly!
